- Registration for the full marathon, half marathon and 8K is still possible -

The 45th edition of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon will continue. Organizer Le Champion is working with the municipality of Amsterdam to dot the i's and cross the t's. The start and finish area in and around the Olympic Stadium are organized as a run-through activity. Participants do not need a coronavirus entry pass (a proof you have tested negative, or have been vaccinated, or have already had the coronavirus once before) to participate in the event. Registration for the full marathon, half marathon and 8K is still possible until Sunday the 3rd of October.

Last week was announced that the social distancing rule will be released from the 25th of September. Until now this was the biggest limiting rule for big sport events like the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. Organiser Le Champion still has to apply several measures focused on the spectators and a few hospitality rooms. Supporters are welcome on the grandstand of the Olympic Stadium by showing there coronavirus entry pass. Furthermore the spectators will be asked to take their own responsibility to encourage the runners mostly spread alongside the course.

Race director René Wit: ‘’The final developments are extremely good news for our marathon. After the cancelled edition of last year and the uncertainty of the past months we are very happy that we can finally come together again with many runners in our beautiful capital. The preparations were already fully going on and at the moment people are working hard to finalise the program according to the latest guidelines. We expect that everyone who continued their trainings, with the knowledge of now will still register for a starting position on Sunday the 17th of October. Without a doubt this will be an unforgettable edition!’’.

Fast course alongside Amsterdam highlights
The TCS Amsterdam Marathon owns the Platinum Label of the World Athletics and is known for its fast and attractive course alongside many Amsterdam highlights, like the Rijksmuseum, the Vondelpark, the Amstel and the Zuidas business district. The finish of all distances will be in the iconic Olympic Stadium from 1928.

Normally the marathon of Amsterdam is the most international sports event in the Netherlands. In 2019 there were 45.000 participants form 140 different countries at the start. The number of nationalities however will be lower the coming edition, because many countries are still dealing with travel restrictions.

The TCS Amsterdam Marathon yearly has both international as national very strong participants at the start. This year in Amsterdam also the Dutch Championship marathon will be held. Le Champion has registered three of the best Dutch marathon runners for the coming edition: Michel Butter, Björn Koreman en Frank Futselaar. The other names of the NK and the international elite field will be announced soon.
