Current marathon course remains unchanged

Over the past two years, we have worked closely with the City of Amsterdam and key stakeholders to explore the possibility of routing the TCS Amsterdam Marathon through the city centre. After careful consideration, we have concluded that the centre (between Central Station, Dam Square and Muntplein) is too vulnerable to safely and responsibly host the event.

The continued growth and international ambitions of the marathon play an important role in this decision. As a Platinum Label marathon, with over 32,000 marathon runners and 15,000 half marathon participants this year, Amsterdam has become the largest marathon in the Netherlands. Therefore, the current course will remain in place for the coming years, featuring the start and finish at the Olympic Stadium and iconic highlights such as Vondelpark and the Rijksmuseum.
