TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2023: registration now open

Registration for the 47th edition of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon is open from today. On Sunday 15 October 2023, up to 45,000 runners can take part in the international marathon, known for its fast and attractive course with start and finish in the Olympic Stadium. In addition to the classic distance, the programme includes the Mizuno Half Marathon, TCS 8K and two kis runs. The TCS Amsterdam Marathon is a World Athletics Platinum Label race. Registration is possible via this link.

There are 12 other World Athletics Platinum Label marathons in the world, including the six World Marathon Majors (Tokyo, London, Boston, Berlin, Chicago and New York). Amsterdam is the only marathon in the Netherlands to have this status. That the TCS Amsterdam Marathon belongs to one of the fastest marathons in the world was reconfirmed last October. Among the women, Ethiopian Almaz Ayana sharpened the course record to 2.17.20. With this performance, she recorded the fastest debut time ever and the seventh fastest time of all time. The men also ran fast, with the entire podium recording a time under 2.05.

Loved around the world
As an international marathon, Amsterdam has great appeal worldwide. The proportion of foreign participants grows every year. In 2022, more than half of the number of entries (52%) came from a country other than the Netherlands, with a total of 130 different nationalities at the start. Highlights of the event include the start and finish in the iconic 1928 Olympic Stadium and the course along the Rijksmuseum, the Vondelpark, the Amstel, Heineken Experience and the Zuidas.

Complete marathon weekend
The marathon weekend starts on Thursday with the International Marathon Expo and on Saturday the Good Morning City Run and traditional Pasta Party take place. Le Champion also organises the Amsterdam City Walk on Saturday with 11,000 participants.

Participant limit full marathon raised
The limits below have been set for the various parts of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. Compared to last edition, there are extra starting places available for the full marathon and fewer for the 8K.

  • TCS Marathon: 20,000
  • Mizuno Half Marathon: 20,000
  • TCS 8K: 5,000

The proceeds benefit ground-braking cancer research at the Cancer Center Amsterdam. The charity for the Kids Run and Mini Marathons is Jeugdfonds Sport Amsterdam.
